Retractable
Screen Doors
1.
Just exactly what is a retractable screen door?
A retractable screen door is a home improvement product that
is attached to the exterior face or interior frame of a doorway.
The screening material itself is attached to a roller tube which
spins on a vertical axis within the assembly's housing. The
screen is also attached to a vertical pull bar which rides on
two rails and is used to stretch the screening material across
the door opening. Once deployed, the pull bar is fixed in place
by one or more magnets installed on the side opposite the housing.
When not in use, the screen rolls up into its housing.
The system can be installed on virtually any single entry door
and, using two complete assemblies, can be easily installed
on French doors. Installations on French doors pose an excellent
opportunity because most lead outdoors and few have any sort
of screen system installed.
2.
How difficult is a retractable screen door to install?
The installation of a retractable screen door system is not
difficult. All you have to do is follow a few simple instructions.
Go to the installation page for an on-line view of the manual
and visit the wrench rating guide to see how your project stacks
up.
3.
What door sizes will this system fit?
The system
can be installed on practically any single door frame measuring
up to 98" in height and 48" in width. French door
assemblies which require the installation of two kits can be
installed on openings up to 96" wide.
4.
When a system is ordered, what does it include?
Each single door will include:
5.
What is a sill adapter?
A
sill adapter is an extruded aluminum threshold adapter that
allows you to mount the railing to almost any existing door.
The sill adapter also helps to eliminate the creation of a trip
hazard, while giving the bottom rail a solid and indestructible
mounting surface.
Awnings
1.
Why would a retractable patio awning be the best choice for
me?
Retractable patio awnings give you the flexibility to adapt
to changing weather, year in and year out. This gives you the
opportunity to extend the awning during the dog days of Summer
and keep the heat out, while allowing you to retract the awning
in the winter months and harness the sun's power to heat your
home.
2.
These awnings don't have support legs on the ends. Is that OK?
Absolutely.
EGE System lateral arm awnings are designed to do just that.
This enables you to keep your patio or deck wide open without
having to worry about placing support posts throughout your
deck
3.
I live in a windy area. Will wind affect my awning?
Wind
affects everything around us and will certainly affect your
awning if it is blowing with enough force. Typically, the amount
of wind that would damage your awning is also strong enough
that most people would not want to be outside anyway. When you
do have strong winds, simply retract your awning and it will
be out of harms way.
4.
What is the warranty?
There
is a 5-year warranty that includes the frame, fabric and motor.
5.
What is a Comfort Valance?
The
Comfort Valance is an ingenious product that allows a rolled
up solar screen to be stored in the front bar of your awning.
When deployed, the solar screen will be able to drop down a
maximum of 4 ft. to allow you the enjoyment of your deck or
patio in the early morning or late evening. This add-on is best
suited for situations where the sun would consistently drop
below where the front bar of an
awning would normally be. The
Comfort Valance will help to keep the front bar of the awning
at a desirable height, usually 6'-7' off the ground so you don't
bump your head, while keeping your deck or patio nice and cool.
When it is not needed, simply retract it back into the front
bar of your awning and you are done. Go to the Gallery for pictures
of this product.
